Glass fireplace doors are an essential accessory for fireplaces, whether you're burning wood fires or gas logs.
As a wood fire burns down you'll want to shut the doors to stop heat loss up your chimney in the evening when you're ready to head to bed. In this way the fire can burn down safely, but with the damper still open you will otherwise lose heat up the chimney all night.
With vented gas logs, the damper is disabled to an open position so when you're not operating your gas logs you'll want to keep the doors shut, again, to keep the heat in your house.
